Disfigured Dead

Wouter Roemers
Death metal is such a limitless genre. You can do whatever you'd like. It can be over the top technical or slow. Brutal or insane and it's all so good. When we made "Visions of Death" it just came out with a natural old school-ish vibe and that's great, but our newer material has a much more modern technical vibe. I love how death metal has evolved.

Graveyard

Wouter Roemers
For me, death metal should be heavy as fuck, brutal (which doesn't necessarily mean "fast"), atmospheric and evil. If the "evil" thing is not there, you can't label yourself death metal, that's a fact. I'm so fucking close minded when it comes to metal music... I listen to the SAME hard rock, heavy, thrash, doom, death and black metal that I used to listen to 15 years ago.
  • Aetherius Obscuritas - "Black Medicine / Fekete Orvosság" (Hungary)

    Paragon Records/Metalhit.com
One-man black metal project from Hungary, led by Vágvölgyi "Arkhorrl" Viktor. Musically similar to the earliest releases of Burzum, Enslaved, Immortal and Taake. This midpaced to fast black metal in the Norse tradition. 'Freezing Embrace' opens with great clean guitar section before going into whirlwind mode. Unlike its Scandinavian counterparts Aetherius Obscuritas need not to play at a constant breakneck pace, as it well arranged midpaced and slow sections create an incredible sense of dread and gloom. The vocal delivery is ghastly and detached. The programmed drums are done tastefully and are inobtrusive compared to other acts that use them. As a fitting tribute Aetherius Obscuritas cover Marduk's fantastic 'The Black Tormentor Of Satan'. Guest musicians on this album include Lord Kaiaphas (ex-Ancient), Nimroth (Cirith Gorgor), Pallos (Blizzard) and more. For black metal terms the production is incredibly clear with a meaty guitar tone, audible bass lines and excellent programmed drums.http://paragonrecords.orgcomment itWouter 6

#1The drums are not programmed, Zson is their drummer, especially for such recoring sessions, as it is written on their site.
