Wiem trochę patetycznie, ale takich historii jest multum. A te chuje w moskwie sobie wymyśliły wojnę... bo tak.
/ Yana Bobrova, Co-founder at Peli can live/Tomorrow we shall bury 22 y.o. Semen Oblomei on Baikivske cementary in Kyiv, my colleague who has sacrificed his life for Ukraine, for the humanity values he believed.
I had a privilege to be in one team with Semen in Peli can live: we dreamed together, built our universe, celebrated the life.
Died the one who was not supposed to die… Semen died as a Hero, defending Siverodonetsk.
Expeditions, planting trees, digging trenches for irrigation system in Gryshko National Botanic Garden in Kyiv, paperwork (he least liked). He also studied forestry in National University of Life and Environmental Sciences. In January he returned from internship in Swedish University of Agriculture Science, where he deepened his knowledge about forestry. He searched for senses in everything he did and had a huge sense of responsibility.
The decision to take up arm was not an easy for him, as it was not easy for many young men and women in Ukraine.
He has spent the first 2 days of the full-scale invasion by russia queueing for a voluntary military registration, searching for an answer: “should I or should I not take the weapon to my arms”, as the war itself was in contradiction to his bright soul. For several more days he has been active as a volunteer, but after the missile had hit Kyiv Railway Station, all the doubts vanished: a warrior has awoken in Semen.
We’ve been waiting for the news from the frontline (zero point). We were horrified when there was no news from Rybizhne, and were happy for Starlinks in Siverodonetsk. And all our team was so happy when he managed to come back home for a few days to get married to his beloved girlfriend Vira, just 12 days before his death.
We knew, if it wasn’t for the war, he would have become the best arborist of Ukraine and give the treatment to the trees. He could feel the trees. But Semen became the Warrior of Light, who will keep holding the sky for us… in the sky.
How to let you go, Semen? We will try to do so.
We will plant Semen’s favorite tree, Ginkgo biloba, at our beloved Kyiv Botanical Garden, to commemorate him, and we will meet up under his tree to dream of and to build the country he had wished to live in. Semen was a future of Ukraine, of all humanistic values, of everything we all strive for.
My sincere condolence to Semen`s family. Thank you for Semen. Heroes do not die!
