2004-12-14Israeli black/thrashers Melechesh have decided to cancel their performance at Xmass Metal Fest 2004, both in The Netherlands and Belgium. Reason for this is the fact that they will be the opening act which starts at 16:30h in The Netherlands and at 13:30h in Belgium. Melechesh never played in the Benelux before in the 11 years of their existence, a rarity. As stated by Melechesh's founding member Ashmedi:
"Being forced to make our appearences for the first time ever in the Benelux as an opening act for the festival in the afternoon at these times is simply not right!"
Despite audience anticipation, an explicit agreement with booker and fest organizer Metallysee and Melechesh's motivation and interest, the band and their record company Osmose Productions decided to cancel the agreement with Metallysee. Metallysee agreed that they would provide Melechesh a fair and reasonable spot on the condition that Melechesh would decline all gig offers in the Benelux prior to the Xmass Fest. Metallysee now refuses to give the band a more suitable stage time.
Nevertheless, Melechesh promises to set up a special premier live appearance in The Netherlands and probably Belgium very soon.
