Seprevation - Consumed If the thrashing chicas from Nervosa lived in Bristol, UK and actually were hombres they'd call themselves Seprevation. Holy fucken shit, dudes. I don't really fucken know whether this sounds more like an old Slayer, Unleashed or Death record, but thrashing it does. Since this comes from the United Kingdom, the land of big fucken tits, I guess this is where I fucken tell you dipshits that the only British bands worth remembering are Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Desecration and Mithras. This is way more retro and thrashy sounding than all those bands, and leagues more energetic than that piece of shit record Benediction put out about ten years ago. What this record needs is more Emma Glover, Melissa Debling or Caitlin Wynters. What this record does have is energy and speed. Holy fucken crap, dudes. "Consumed" doesn't fuck around, and rips your face off just like "Beneath the Remains" or "The Ultimate Incantation" did back in the day. It's kinda hard to tell these ten songs apart, but who's keeping count anyway? Seriously, play Nervosa's 'Death!' and then this band's 'Servants Of Suffering', if it weren't for the singers I couldn't tell these fucken two bands apart. Boobs always win, sorry. The singer is totally bonkers as he goes from Corpsegrinder growls to Tom Araya's wails, and there's swinging solos everywhere! It's not particular varied, but since when does that fucken matter in underground metal anyway? Exactly, never. I mean, sure, this is a competent album, and all - but this is hardly a new classic-to-be, don't fucken delude yourself, you inbred halfwit. According to the eternally irrelevant Terrorizer Magazine this band is "truly evil sounding death metal from Bristol, true to the 80's and 90's masters" - which is a statement about fake as Denise Milani's ginormous boobs, and why the fuck you would even take that stupid hipster magazine seriously is another discussion entirely. I mean, fuck you, that rag named itself after a one-time grindcore project that released its last (and only decent) album quarter of a fucken century ago! At least these blowhards got the production right: crunchy, organic and with a prominent place for the plopping, popping, throbbing bass guitar. The drums don't sound plastic and sterile for once, and at least this sounds like at some point humans were involved in recording this. Oh sure, this is better than most of the other shit I have heard in the last couple of weeks, but don't fucken expect me to follow you in your madness that this is some undiscovered gem, or the new death/thrash metal underground sensation. Odin knows that metallers like a good hype just as much as the mainstream music fans they supposedly so despise, but Seprevation is at least partly worth of some praise. This record doesn't blow. It is in fact quite fucken enjoyable, and not retarded like much of the underground. That doesn't happen regularly enough. So yeah, fuck you and your stupid friends, pick up this record if you're in the mood for some ripping death/thrash metal, but don't expect to be wowed.
